The Cloverlane Foundation participated in the Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down held on Saturday, October 26th at the Santa Maria Fairpark. The event marked its 12th year. Started by Santa Barbara County 5th District Supervisor, Steve Lavagnino (pictured with his wife Marian), is geared toward homeless and at-risk veterans. Veterans can get legal help and employment assistance, clothing, shoes and military gear and duffle bags. More than 100 local providers, including nonprofits, pulled together resources for veterans. Haircuts, hygiene products and medical/dental treatment were also available. Over 500 volunteers together with active-duty representatives from Vandenberg Space Force Base helped 500 veterans at this year’s event. Cloverlane handed out over 800 pairs of men’s socks, 50 men’s T-Shirts, 84 pairs of women’s socks, and 45 women’s T-Shirts to veterans. All the clothing was purchased by Cloverlane. Veterans and volunteers were treated to a free breakfast, donated in part by the Santa Barbara County FoodBank and tri-tip lunch cooked by the Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538. Please thank our veterans and our brothers and sisters in the military for their service.
